Avoimet ovet...The doors are open !!

Veneenveisto on edennyt hyvin, mutta päätimme kuitenkin siirtää vesillelaskun ensi vuoden (2017) kevääseen. Homma oli menossa hosumiseksi jolloin päätösten tekoihin ei jää tarvittavaa aikaa ja lopputulos olisi varmasti kärsinyt tästä...

Saimme luvan jatkaa samassa verstaassa ensi kevääseen asti joten nyt on laitettava asiat kuntoon ja vene valmiiksi !!

The boatbuilding has been progressing at a steady pace but despite all the efforts we decided to push back the launch until spring of 2017. We noticed that when the building speed increases you are left with very little time to think which will ultimately have an effect on the way things turn out...

We can stay in the same workshop until the launch so we will have to make sure we plan and build well and get the boat 100% ready for the launch.

Ovien rakennus oli seuraavana listalla...Saranat ovat projektin luottosepän takomat, tyylikkäät ja yksilölliset jotka sopivat täydellisesti paatin luonteeseen. 

Oven rakenne on hyvin yksinkertainen, ulkopinta on lehtikuusipaneelia kuten laipiotkin ja sisäpuolelle liimattiin kanttaamaton kuusilauta tuomaan hieman "mökkitunnelmaa" .

The doors were next on the list. We have been fortunate enough to have a great blacksmith assisting us and he made all of the hinges and the necessary fittings. These unique and stylish pieces are exactly what the whole project is about. 

The doors themselves are put together using the same panels as we have on the bulkheads and on the inside we glued a plank of spruce with a natural edge to give that "rustic cabin-look".

Höyläämällä saa tehtyä sopivan hienosäädön, jotta ovet liikkuvat moitteettomasti

Using the wood plane we were able to fine tune the way the doors close and open

 

Alaosassa olevat reiät ovat tuuletusta varten ja tulevat saamaan messinkisen ritilän päälle.

The holes are for ventilation and will be covered with a brass grille.

Lopuksi jokaiseen oveen liimattiin puulista johon tulee tiiviste / vesisulku. Seuraavaksi ovet maalataan ulkopuolelta ja öljytään sisäpuolelta. Maalaus tehdään samanaikaisesti "varalaidan" eli hyttien sivusarjojen kanssa.

The edges are fitted with a trim that will have the seal against water ingress. The doors will be painted on the outside and varnished with linseed oil on the inside. This will be done at the same time when we paint the cabintrunk.
